After Even Flow:
This is Mike McCready right there.
And speaking of guitar players there’s one I’m sure you know, you might have seen him around town, this is where they lived, this is where they’re from. They were maybe one of the greatest American rock bands ever, they were a punk band, The Ramones. And speaking of guitar players, Johnny Ramone, you know The Ramones played almost 2300 shows but they never played in this building here. And we’ve never done this before made a phone call from the stage but I was gonna call Johnny and play a Ramones song.
[Ed’s calling but noone’s picking up.]
He’s always home…
Hey Johnny, you fucker, why aren’t you home? Alright this is Eddie calling and also the people in New York here in Madison Square Garden. And we want to play a song for you so here you go. I’ll call you later.
After Present Tense:
These are the most expensive seats in the house right here.. but when you got Matt Cameron in the band those are the best seats in the house right there.
And ah you know Matt makes records with another band. It’s just him and his mate called John, it’s called Wellwater Conspiracy. I think it’s record number four. They just finished the fourth record, it’ll be out sometime soon. Which is great, I’m really glad it’s done, because that means you’ll be available to record with us.
After the first encore break Ed reads a few song requests and talks about the fanclub members saying there’s usually around 1000-2000 at every show but last night there was 7000 and tonight there’s 8000. He then goes on to say:
And I’ll just go on to say that, you know one of the greatest biproducts that music has ended kind of offering us beyond our experiences in travelling and meeting people and getting to play with other musicians and you know meet world leaders and find out what the truth really is, you know these great experiences we’ve had, I think the thing that’s most important or seems to have the most value is the letters we’ve gotten of people that have met each other and have become friends and lovers and… that they came together because they like the group and the fact that it turns this in to a family reunion, it’s really beautiful.
You know you hear these stories that five or six people met at a show and then they went to some showes and then became great.., and then they got married and then they had kids, you know, and then there’s the couple in… where are they from? they were trying to have five kids so that they could name one after each member of band.. I think they were from Jersey.
So far they’ve got Jeff, Stone and Mike and they’re fucking right now trying to get little Eddie. And if they get to Boom, Mr. Boom Gaspar on the keyboards there, we’re just gonna keep adding bandmembers, we’ll have a horn section, we’ll have a you know… that’s evolution baby.
Anyways, here’s a song. And again: Thanks for your support. It doesn’t go unnoticed.
